• The tattoo laser removal treatment may cause bruising and swelling in some patients. There is an immediate whitening of the treated area, which usually lasts for several minutes. Some clients may develop blisters, crusts of scabs within 12-72 hours, which may last for 1-2 weeks or more. The treated areas may be pink after the scab separates. Loss of skin pigment in the area is common, and is usually temporary. Healing is usually complete by 6-8 weeks.

  • You may apply a cool compress as necessary for 24 hours after the treatment to help reduce discomfort and inflammation. You may take paracetamol, but avoid aspirin (it can increase the risk of bruising and/or bleeding)
  • Do not pick at the scab or allow it to be scraped, as this may result in infection and scarring. Shaving should be avoided in the area until completely healed.
  • You must use sunblock with an SPF of 50 for a period of 3 months post treatment.
  • Apply a thin application of antibiotic cream (eg. Bepanthen cream from chemist), and redress as required.
  • Hot showers, baths, pools, spas, steam, sauna and vigorous exercise must be avoided for at least 48 hours post-treatment, or until the treatment areas no longer feel warm and/or irritated.
